ACTIVITIES
The Automotive Cluster Euregio Meuse-Rhine (EMR) is pleased to invite you to the round table discussion:
“CO2-Neutral Production in the EMR”
CO2 reduction is a key factor in making industry sustainable. Including taxation as a tool, it could also become a market discriminator. We aim to create working groups and initiate projects within the EMR to reduce CO2 emissions in the production of vehicles and components, and to become a leading region in this field.
The international community is intensifying its efforts to address the problem of CO2-induced global warming. Industrialised countries are considered to be most responsible for climate change, and are adopting the targets for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions under the Kyoto Protocol (1997).
To support these targets for reduction of emissions, mechanisms are being developed to reduce the speed of global warming and to keep temperature increases within defined levels. One of these mechanisms is the concept of CO2-neutral production and storage activities.
The increasing cost of fossil fuels means that reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from these sources is an economic as well as an ecological target. In addition on the workshop held on 29 November 2011 at Intertrek, AutomotiveNL organizes a round table discussion, where AutomotiveNL embed the needs of several companies.
The round table will feature a discussion between Lavans, Volvo Truck and E.ON Benelux. These companies will present and discuss their views on the concept of carbon/energy neutrality in a production and warehousing environment, focusing specifically on the approach, methodology and risks of implementation.
